Biography
I am majoring in psychology and concentrating in gender and sexuality studies to eventually become a Sex Therapist. The idea of studying sexology came from my ambitious for love. I dislike seeing marriages fall apart. In the future, I want to be able to help couples in their problems and also helped troubled people who suffer from addiction in sex. Many people do not see sex as an addiction but it is. As horrible as any addiction, sex can harm you in many ways. I want to be able to help society in any way I can.
If someone had to write a book about me I can assure you that they will say I adore Harry Potter. I love to read. I love to lose myself in a different world and expand my imagination. With that being said, I am a very creative person. One of my biggest fears is to trap myself in one element. I chose to minor in event planning because I feel that part of me should be developed. As much as I like being able to help people out, I also like to be part of the creating hand. I have yet to explore many possible paths, but I know that I can bring 100% to the table.

Letter Of Intent
Dear Viewer,
The goal of this portfolio is to provide you with a look into my scholarly accomplishments and past work experiences as well as highlight my interest in acquiring an internship in the psychology field. The context I have provided within this blog will exemplify my aspiration to succeed both proficiently and academically and how my experiences have prepared me with the skills necessary to be a valuable assistance within your association.
As a freshman in college, I have already planned my next three years. I am determined to receive my psychology degree at Rider University and hope to attend graduate school for a master’s degree in Sexology. My interest in this field began a few years ago after a large increase of pregnancy in my high school. Since then, I have begun to explore the psychology field to get familiar with dealing with troubled students. My education has provided me with essential skills to help others. The many organizations I am part of now in college are providing fundamental steps to a career.
I thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I invite you to continue viewing my academic achievements as well as the many presentations I take full pride on. I will gladly welcome any questions regarding my past experiences. Please direct all questions and/or comments to diazl@ridr.edu and I will reply promptly.
With kindest regards,
Laura Diaz

Academic Achievements
One of my main focuses in life is to strife to be a better student. Academically, I feel that I am a well-built student. I put all my effort and dedication into my academics and my work reflects that. My first year in Rider University has been a challenge. With every task, I have grown into a better student overall. Below are some of my writings and presentation I take pride on.
In my Expository Writing Class we had the privilege to write various papers on interesting topics. On of my all time favorite topics is dealing with America and its constitution. Here is my paper on Freedom.
Being a Latina has given me the advantage to learn Spanish. Like I stated previously I am very proud of my roots. As an achiever, one of my goals is to learn another language and its culture. I am currently talking an Italian course and I chose to write a paper on Italian Comedy. Nothing makes me happier than a good laugh. Here is my latest accomplishment.
The biggest self-discovery I did this fall semester was the enthusiasm I have for public speaking. In my Speech and Communication course this semester I presented many speeches. We did elevator speeches, entertainment speeches, persuasive speeches, interviews, but my favorite one was the passion speech. In this speech I was able to show the audience a bit of my personality. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter Book series as well as the author J.K Rowling. Below is the presentation I am most fond of. Enjoy.

College Experience
They always say that your college years are the best ones of your life. Surely I have been keen to the life I live here at Rider University. Being in college can give you many opportunities to network and show what you have to offer. Here at Rider University, I have received many memorable moments. I have been lucky enough to participate in many fun activities such as The Corzine/Obama Rally, Heritage Week Organizations, HaHa Week (Hunger and Homelessness Awareness) as many more. I am a member of an organization called Multicultural Student Leadership Institute (MSLI). This has opened the door for me in many ways. Through EOP I have gain many experience. One of the biggest events that I was gladly part of, was The 10th Annual Distinguished Writers Series where author James McBride attended and gave us the opportunity to read our works on his books. Here are some photographs that have captured those amazing moments.

Traveling the World Day by Day
Traveling and exploring this planet has become my favorite past time. I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. My family and I have been fortunate to travel many countries together and enjoy our time. Recently I traveled to California with my family and explore the hot Deserts instead of the famous cities. It was such a thrill. In my future, I hope to continue traveling and adding more countries to my list. Here are some of my favorite photographs taking my family and myself. Hope you enjoy. :)
